Common Problems

Washer problems

If it is leaking underneath, we may need to service or replace the drain pump
Not draining, could be a clogged drain, filter, switch/sensor or a worn out drain pump
Not spinning, could be due to a faulty drain pump, coupling or worst case transmission
It makes a very loud high pitch noise when spinning, it is most likely the bearing - this is NEVER a worthwhile repair, it is very expensive and starts leaking after a few months.

Dryer problems

Not drying, it could be the heating element, thermal fuse kit or Igniter
Not starting, most commonly a fuse
Not tumbling it is usually the belt
Very noisy, could be the pulley, rollers, or felt padding
Takes several cycles to dry, first thing to check is the vent in the wall, if not a thermostat could be damaged

Fridge problems

A leaky fridge can be due to a defrost problem
Freezer is fine but the refrigerator is warm could be a fan motor worn out or ice blockage
The freezer and fridge shut down, when the freezer goes out it always signals a major problem. Worst case scenario is the compresor and the best case scenario a control board or capacitor.
Compressors usually go for ten years

Dishwasher problems

Leaking could be a door seal, a loose hose, a damaged gasket
Not starting could be a sensor or power problem
Not drying could be a heating element

Oven problems

Not heating, could be heating element, ignitor, or power problem
Not holding temperature, could be the temperature sensor

Microwave problems

It is hardly ever worth repairing a microwave because of the part and labor cost
